About the Family and Show

Meet Our New Military Makeover Veteran: Sean Reeves & Family

Honoring Service. Transforming Lives.

Introducing the Reeves Family of King, North Carolina
This season on Military Makeover with Montel®, we spotlight the Reeves family—a veteran household defined by resilience, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to both country and community.

Sean Reeves: Courage in Action
Born in New York and raised in Greensboro, NC, Sean Reeves felt the call to serve after the events of September 11, 2001. Driven by duty, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps immediately after high school, becoming an infantry rifleman with the First Battalion, Second Marines.

Sean deployed to Afghanistan in 2010, facing the harsh realities of combat. During Operation Northern Penetration, he survived an IED blast and an ambush—sustaining a traumatic brain injury and three gunshot wounds. Despite these serious injuries, Sean displayed immense bravery, serving until his medical retirement in 2011.Sean’s heroism has been recognized with numerous honors, including:

Purple Heart
NATO Medal ISAF
Afghanistan National Defense Service Medal
Global War on Terrorism Service Medal
Afghanistan Campaign Ribbon with Presidential Unit Citation
Sea Service Deployment Ribbon
Combat Action Ribbon
Good Conduct Medal
Rifle Qualification Badge Sharpshooter

Giving Back at Home
After retiring from the military, Sean dedicated himself to helping fellow veterans as a care coordinator at Veterans Bridge Home. He works tirelessly to connect veterans, military personnel, and their families with essential resources, ensuring no one faces transition alone.

Despite ongoing health challenges—including cognitive issues, chronic pain, PTSD, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (now in remission)—Sean continues to support and uplift his veteran community.

The Power of Family and Support
By Sean’s side is his life partner, Marilyn Cecilia Williams. Childhood sweethearts, Sean and Marilyn reconnected at a family wedding and have been inseparable since 2015. Marilyn, a junior programmer/analyst at Atrium Wake Forest Health, comes from a military family herself. Together, they find strength in their close-knit family, community, and shared passions.

A New Beginning
Through Military Makeover with Montel®, the Reeves family is receiving a well-deserved home transformation—one that reflects their sacrifices and helps them thrive. With support from generous partners, we’re honored to help rebuild not just a home, but a future.
